FUNDS for the rejuvenation of the Saumarez Park children’s playground have been boosted by a £5,000 donation from Waitrose.

The supermarket has presented the money to the Friends of Saumarez Park Playground, a charity launched last week to raise money for the playground replacement appeal.

Vice chairman of the charity, Andrew McCutcheon, said the donation took the total raised, including pledges, to £50,000.

The Friends’ target is £500,000.
